Ashtanga Yoga
Ashtanga Yoga is based on the systematic yoga teachings of Sri K. Pattabhi Jois. Yoga Connection teaches the Primary Series, (there are six series) which is designed to detoxify and align the body. Ashtanga Yoga is a detoxifying, dynamic and moving meditation. Ashtanga Yoga promotes improved circulation, concentration, strength, flexibility and a calm mind.
Ashtanga Yoga Self-Practice
This class is student led, meaning each student practices individually, within a class environment, at their own tempo within the allotted class time and is supported by the attending teacher who is there to mentor and adjust you as needed. The amount of contact with your teacher will vary according to your need for support and the size of the class. This class is open to all levels, however if you are a complete beginner, we do recommend attending a Beginners Ashtanga Course first.

Yoga Connection�??s community yoga classes vary in styles, offering the community a yoga taster. All styles offered are suitable for all levels.
Conception-Early Pregnancy Yoga
This class is for women trying to conceive through to the first 16 weeks of pregnancy. Pelvic awareness, relaxation and the practice of pranayama are this classes focus.
Early-Mid Pregnancy Yoga
Prepare physically and mentally for the birth of your child, while improving your flexibility, mobility and strength. Each class is developed to focus on ease of movement, ease and depth of breath, pelvic awareness, and bonding with baby. The overall class aim is to help you to improve your stamina and confidence during labour and delivery. No previous yoga experience required - recommended to join from 16 weeks onward.
Hatha Yoga
This class is slow moving. It emphasizes proper alignment, the holding of postures and the coordination of breath and movement. It will bring balance, strength, and a sense of well-being. No previous yoga experience required - suitable for all levels and ages.
Late Pregnancy Yoga
This class is for women between 34-40+ weeks of pregnancy. This class focuses on alignment, pelvic floor muscles, positioning of baby, preparing for birthing positioning, promoting better sleep and deep rest before labour, creating greater mobility around the tail bone and groin area, deep breathing, and vocal awareness.
Postnatal Yoga
Postnatal yoga takes you gently through the first months after giving birth and becomes progressively more vigorous and demanding as you develop and strengthen your posture over time. The exercises have been specially designed to address your needs as a new mother and to help you acquire increased pelvic strength and long-term pelvic health. This class is for new mums and is recommended anywhere from 2-6 weeks post birth.Baby is welcome to come to class and can also participate in many of our exercises.
Power Vinyasa Yoga
Based on the traditional Ashtanga system, this dynamic yoga class links postures in a flowing style using the breath as a constant point of reference. Through the application of heat, this yoga can restore tissues and joints, improve circulation and eliminate unwanted elements. You will sweat. Power Vinyasa yoga builds strength, increases the range of motion - improving flexibility, helps to realign the body and creates endurance.
Slow Down Yoga
All areas of the body will be worked deeply and methodically through holding postures longer and emphasizing breath awareness in all postures. This yoga is restorative and provides for deep relaxation. No previous yoga experience required - suitable for all levels and ages.
Yoga for 55+
This class is gentle, focusing on yoga stretching, yogic breathing and body awareness. This class is designed for improving posture, joint range of motion, balance and promoting sleep and is suitable for all levels.
Sun Power Yoga
Sun Power Yoga is an eclectic mix of three traditional styles:- Dynamic Hatha - working on body alignment
- Sivananda - incorporating a subtle mind and pranayama
- Ashtanga - to generate heat and improve and increase flexibility, strength and stamina
